Zions Bancorporation Raises Quarterly Dividend 6.67%
Zions increased its quarterly dividend to $0.48 per share, extending its dividend-growth streak to 13 consecutive years.
ZION — Zions Bancorporation, National Association
Zions Bancorporation, National Association (NASDAQ: ZION) increased its quarterly dividend to $0.48 per share from $0.45, a 6.67% raise. The dividend carried an ex-dividend date of Aug. 13, 2026.
At the new rate, the Salt Lake City-based financial-services company’s annualized dividend is $1.92 per share. Based on a share price of $68.14, that represents a forward annual yield of 2.82%.
The increase extends Zions’ record of consecutive annual dividend growth to 13 years. That streak follows the company’s previous dividend cut in 2009, during the disruption that followed the global financial crisis.
Earnings and capital provide context
Zions has not tied the increase to a specific operating metric, but the decision follows a quarter in which earnings, capital and credit indicators strengthened.
The bank reported second-quarter 2026 net earnings of $452 million and diluted earnings of $3.05 per share. Results included $252 million of pretax net gains; excluding notable items, diluted earnings were $1.74 per share. Net interest income increased 4% from a year earlier as lower funding costs helped offset declining asset yields, according to the company’s second-quarter earnings release.
Zions also estimated its common equity Tier 1 ratio at 11.8%, up from 11.0% a year earlier. Classified loans and nonperforming assets declined from their respective prior-year levels, while deposits increased. Those trends do not establish the board’s reason for raising the dividend, but they provide a stronger operating and capital backdrop for the distribution.
The company operates through seven locally managed banking divisions serving customers primarily across 11 Western states. Its latest quarterly report was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Aug. 6, 2026, according to the SEC filing record.
What it means for income investors
The raise adds $0.03 per share to each quarterly payment and $0.12 per share to the annualized dividend. Investors purchasing shares on or after the Aug. 13 ex-dividend date would not qualify for the associated distribution.
SmarterDividends assigns Zions a dividend-safety score of 89 out of 100, equivalent to an A grade. The score indicates a comparatively strong current safety assessment, though it does not guarantee future payments or increases.
