Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) increased its quarterly common-stock dividend to $0.67 per share from $0.60, an increase of 11.67%. The shares traded ex-dividend on Aug. 3, 2026.

The new payout equates to an annual dividend of $2.68 per share. Based on a share price of $131.65, Citigroup’s forward annual dividend yield is 2.04%.

The increase marks Citigroup’s third consecutive year of dividend growth. The bank previously cut its dividend in 2011, making its current growth streak relatively short despite the company’s long operating history.

Capital strength supports the increase

Citigroup linked the higher payout to its performance in the Federal Reserve’s annual supervisory stress test. The company said the results showed improved capital resilience and stronger earnings capacity. Its capital depletion under the stress scenario narrowed to 290 basis points from 320 basis points in the prior cycle, while the test implied a lower stress capital buffer of 3.3%. The bank’s official buffer remains at 3.6% following a Federal Reserve decision to maintain existing requirements until October 2027. Citi’s stress-test announcement

The dividend decision also followed stronger second-quarter results. Citigroup reported net income of $5.8 billion, up from $4.0 billion a year earlier, as revenue increased across each of its five core businesses. Chief Executive Jane Fraser said growing earnings generation would support the planned dividend increase. The bank is also continuing a $30 billion multiyear common-stock repurchase program. What it means for income investors

The higher rate increases Citigroup’s annual cash-income potential while preserving a quarterly payment schedule. SmarterDividends assigns the payout a safety score of 83 out of 100, corresponding to an A grade. Income investors should nevertheless distinguish between the payout’s current safety assessment and its growth record: the safety grade is strong, while the three-year growth streak remains modest following the earlier cut.
