Okeanis Eco Tankers Declares $5.25 Special Dividend

Okeanis Eco Tankers Corp. (NYSE: ECO) declared a special quarterly dividend of $5.25 per share, up from the previous $2.00 distribution. The increase is 162.5%, and the shares went ex-dividend on Aug. 13, 2026.

The larger payout followed a strong second quarter for the crude-oil tanker operator. Okeanis reported that quarterly revenue and profit rose sharply from the comparable period, while fleetwide charter-equivalent rates benefited from a robust tanker market. The company also said its recently booked third-quarter voyages continued to command elevated rates. The results were disclosed in an Aug. 4 filing with the SEC.

Okeanis operates a fleet of modern, scrubber-equipped Suezmax and very large crude carrier tankers. Its vessels transport crude oil and refined products, leaving earnings closely tied to charter rates, vessel availability and global shipping demand. The company’s annual report identifies voyage and time-charter rates, operating expenses and fleet characteristics among the principal factors affecting its results. The filing describes the company’s business and fleet.

The distribution should not be interpreted as the start of a conventional dividend-growth streak. Okeanis has zero consecutive years of dividend growth in the locked data and previously cut its payout in 2025. The company also states that it has no written dividend policy and may adopt, change or terminate its approach in the future. Dividend capacity depends partly on cash flows from operating subsidiaries and restrictions contained in financing arrangements, according to its interim financial report.

What it means for income investors

The locked data show annual dividends of $9.55 per share and a forward annual yield of 14.76% at a share price of $64.71. That is a high current income rate, but the special classification, the prior cut and the absence of a growth streak underline the payout’s variability.

The dividend carries a safety score of 43 out of 100 and a D grade. For income investors, those measures frame the distribution as dependent on tanker-market earnings and cash generation rather than as a predictable, steadily rising payment. Okeanis has a market capitalization of $2,526,579,712.
