Pegasystems Sets Special Dividend of $0.083 a Share

Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA) has set a special dividend of $0.083 per share, with an ex-dividend date of Aug. 17, 2026. The special payment is 176.67% larger than the technology company’s previous quarterly dividend rate of $0.03 per share.

The distribution is connected to the settlement of consolidated shareholder derivative litigation. Pegasystems disclosed that a court granted final approval to the settlement on June 30, including a special dividend for shareholders other than the defendants. The court subsequently entered a final judgment dismissing the consolidated complaint with prejudice, according to the company’s second-quarter regulatory filing. Pegasystems Form 10-Q

That legal context distinguishes the $0.083 payment from an ordinary increase in Pegasystems’ recurring dividend. The company’s filing says it intends to continue paying its regular quarterly cash dividend, while noting that the board may modify or end the program without prior notice. Pegasystems Form 10-Q

Pegasystems develops enterprise software and is classified in the technology sector. Its regular annual dividend is $0.12 per share, equivalent to a 0.36% forward yield at the supplied share price of $33.56. The company has one consecutive year of dividend growth. Its dividend safety score is 90 out of 100, carrying an A grade.

What it means for income investors

Investors who acquire shares on or after the Aug. 17 ex-dividend date would not qualify for this special distribution under standard ex-dividend mechanics. Because the $0.083 payment is special and tied to a litigation settlement, it should be evaluated separately from the recurring $0.03 quarterly rate and the $0.12 regular annual dividend.

The event therefore provides an additional one-time cash payment to eligible shareholders, but it does not by itself establish a new quarterly dividend level. For investors focused on recurring income, the regular annual dividend and its 0.36% forward yield remain the more relevant measures of the company’s ongoing payout.
