Lithia Motors, Inc. (NYSE: LAD) increased its quarterly dividend to $0.70 per share from $0.57, a 22.81% rise. Shares traded ex-dividend on Aug. 7, 2026.

The higher payment lifts the company’s annualized dividend to $2.80 per share. Based on a share price of $370.73, the forward annual yield is 0.76%.

The increase extends Lithia’s record of annual dividend growth to 15 consecutive years. The company previously cut its dividend in 2008, but has since established a sustained pattern of increases.

Business backdrop

The dividend action accompanied Lithia’s latest quarterly results. The automotive retailer reported record quarterly revenue, improved used-vehicle profitability and record income from its financing operations. Chief Executive Bryan DeBoer said the company also achieved stable new-vehicle margins and better sequential cost efficiency. Lithia’s earnings release

Lithia operates a broad automotive retail platform spanning physical dealerships, e-commerce, financing, fleet management and vehicle-service operations. The company describes itself as the largest global automotive retailer and reported operations across the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Lithia’s quarterly filing

The earnings release presented the dividend increase as part of a broader capital-return program that also includes share repurchases. The company did not identify a single operating metric as the reason for the higher payout, although the announcement came against a backdrop of higher quarterly earnings per share and stronger financing results.

What it means for income investors

The increase raises the annual income generated by each share while preserving Lithia’s quarterly payment schedule. The 0.76% forward yield remains modest relative to companies primarily owned for current income, so the event is more notable for the size of the increase and continuation of the 15-year growth streak.

Lithia carries a dividend safety score of 81 out of 100 and an A safety grade. Those measures indicate a comparatively strong assessment of the current payout, though dividends remain subject to future board approval and business conditions.
