PPG — PPG Industries, Inc.
PPG Industries Inc. (NYSE: PPG) increased its quarterly dividend to $0.74 per share from $0.71, a 4.23% rise. The shares traded ex-dividend on Aug. 10, 2026.
The new rate equates to an annual dividend of $2.96 per share. Based on a share price of $113.63, the forward annual yield is 2.6%.
The increase extends PPG’s record of dividend growth to 42 consecutive years. In announcing the action, Chairman and Chief Executive Tim Knavish said the board’s decision reflected confidence in the resilience of the business, the balance sheet and PPG’s capacity to generate and expand operating cash flow. PPG’s announcement also described the company as a global supplier of paints, coatings and specialty products serving construction, consumer, industrial and transportation markets and aftermarkets.
Operating context
The dividend increase follows a period of higher sales but continued cost pressure. In its second-quarter regulatory filing, PPG said net sales increased by $300 million from the prior-year period, supported by higher volumes and selling prices, favorable currency translation and acquisitions. Cost of sales increased by $255 million, primarily because of higher volumes, raw-material inflation and currency effects. The company’s Form 10-Q also reported approximately $15 million in quarterly restructuring savings as PPG continued reviewing its cost base.
That backdrop helps explain management’s emphasis on business resilience and cash-flow generation. The higher payout represents a measured increase rather than a large change, maintaining the company’s established pattern of annual dividend growth while operating across cyclical end markets.
What it means for income investors
At the new quarterly rate, an investor holding 100 shares would receive $74 per payment, or $296 over a full year if the rate remains unchanged. The supplied dividend-safety assessment assigns PPG a score of 94 out of 100 and an A grade. Those measures indicate a strong current payout profile, although they do not guarantee future declarations. The forward yield will also vary as PPG’s share price changes.
