Sturm, Ruger & Company increased its quarterly dividend to $0.21 per share from $0.11, a 90.91% rise. The shares carried an ex-dividend date of Aug. 14, 2026.

At the new rate, the dividend annualizes to $0.84 per share and represents a forward yield of 2.18% at a share price of $38.39. The firearms manufacturer has a market capitalization of about $613.4 million.

The increase followed a stronger second quarter. Sturm, Ruger reported that net sales rose 19% from the comparable period, while adjusted earnings improved to $0.52 per diluted share from $0.41. Average selling prices and adjusted gross margin also increased, reflecting a more favorable product mix and improved operational execution, according to the company’s quarterly results release.

The company said the declared dividend represented approximately 40% of second-quarter adjusted net income. That policy helps explain the size of the latest increase: Sturm, Ruger’s distribution can move with earnings rather than follow the steadily rising pattern used by many traditional dividend-growth companies.

Sturm, Ruger is principally engaged in designing, manufacturing and selling firearms to domestic customers. Its latest quarterly filing also disclosed expenses associated with a strategic cooperation agreement with Beretta Holding and a transition in the chief financial officer position. Management excluded those items from its assessment of underlying operating performance, according to the company’s Form 10-Q.

What it means for income investors

The higher payment increases near-term income, but it does not establish a conventional dividend-growth streak. Sturm, Ruger previously reduced its dividend in 2025 and has zero consecutive years of dividend growth. Its dividend safety score is 65 out of 100, equivalent to a B grade.

Because the payout is tied to quarterly profitability, future dividends may rise or fall alongside earnings. Income investors therefore receive a higher current rate, while also facing more variability than they would with a fixed or progressively managed dividend policy.
