The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE: BNY) raised its quarterly dividend to $0.63 per share from $0.53, an increase of 18.87%. The stock’s ex-dividend date is July 27, 2026.

The increase marks BNY’s 15th consecutive year of dividend growth. The financial-services company last reduced its dividend in 2009.

BNY initially announced its intention to raise the payout after the Federal Reserve released its annual bank stress-test results. The company said its stress capital buffer has remained at the regulatory floor since the requirement was introduced, citing the resilience of its business model, balance-sheet strength and risk management as factors supporting the planned increase. Chief Executive Robin Vince also linked the decision to the durability of BNY’s ongoing business transformation and its focus on long-term shareholder value. BNY’s dividend-increase announcement

The board subsequently declared the higher common-stock dividend. BNY’s investor-relations history shows the increase following several quarters at the previous rate, continuing a pattern of annual raises. BNY dividend declaration BNY dividend history

BNY operates a predominantly fee-based financial-services model centered on custody, clearing, asset servicing and related infrastructure for institutional clients. Its latest regulatory filing said fee revenue represented most of its second-quarter revenue and confirmed that the board had approved the dividend increase. The filing also reported that the company’s stress capital buffer remained at the regulatory minimum, providing context for its capital-return decision. BNY quarterly filing

What it means for income investors

The higher rate increases BNY shareholders’ recurring quarterly income by 18.87%. At the supplied share price of $158.49, the stated forward annual yield is 1.4%.

The company carries a dividend-safety score of 83 out of 100, equivalent to an A grade. Those measures, together with the 15-year growth streak, describe a dividend with an established post-2009 recovery record, while the yield indicates that the payout remains a relatively modest component of the stock’s prospective return.
