The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) increased its quarterly dividend to $5 per share from $4.50, an 11.11% rise. The stock’s ex-dividend date was Sept. 1, 2026.

The higher distribution equates to an annualized dividend of $20 per share. Based on a share price of $1,002.56, Goldman’s forward annual dividend yield is 1.95%.

The increase extends the financial-services company’s record of annual dividend growth to 14 consecutive years. Goldman has a dividend safety score of 89 out of 100 and an A safety grade.

Goldman’s board approved the higher quarterly payout after the firm announced its planned increase alongside the results of the Federal Reserve’s capital review. Management said the plan reflected the strength of the franchise, its earnings capacity and confidence in balancing shareholder returns with client support and long-term investment. The company also described the increase as part of its strategy of paying a sustainable and growing dividend. Goldman Sachs’ CCAR statement

The Federal Reserve’s 2026 stress test examined whether large banks could maintain sufficient capital under a hypothetical severe recession. The central bank’s results showed Goldman remaining above applicable minimum capital requirements under the test scenario, providing regulatory context for the firm’s capital-return decision. The dividend action also followed a strong second quarter. Goldman reported net revenue of $20.34 billion and net earnings of $6.63 billion, with diluted earnings per share of $20.98 and an annualized return on average common equity of 23.5%. Chairman and Chief Executive David Solomon attributed the quarter’s record performance to the breadth of the firm’s franchise and stronger client activity. Goldman Sachs second-quarter results

What it means for income investors

The increase lifts annualized dividend income by $2 per share from the previous quarterly rate. Investors purchasing shares on or after the Sept. 1 ex-dividend date are not entitled to the associated upcoming distribution. While the 1.95% forward yield is modest relative to some dividend-focused stocks, the increase adds another year to Goldman’s growth streak and raises the cash income generated by each existing share.
