Management also emphasized its intention to balance shareholder returns with investment in innovation, expansion of its BlueEdge water-management portfolio and strategic growth opportunities. Business context

Milwaukee-based Badger Meter provides water-management technology for utilities, municipalities and commercial and industrial customers. Its BlueEdge portfolio combines measurement hardware, communications, data visualization, analytics software and support services. Badger Meter company overview

The dividend increase follows a mixed recent operating period. Badger Meter reported that second-quarter sales improved sequentially but declined from the unusually strong prior-year quarter. Management attributed part of the comparison to uneven deployment schedules for utility water projects, while noting growth in flow-instrumentation products serving water-related markets.

The company also completed its acquisition of UDlive, a provider of sewer-line monitoring technology, during the quarter. Badger Meter said the deal expands its monitoring capabilities and geographic reach, while early commercial interest and integration progress were encouraging. Badger Meter’s second-quarter results

What it means for income investors

The higher distribution increases annual dividend income to $1.76 per share for investors who remain eligible for future quarterly payments. The 1.27% forward yield is relatively modest, making the event more notable for its 10% growth rate and the continuation of a 21-year growth streak than for current yield alone.

Badger Meter carries a dividend safety score of 88 out of 100, corresponding to an A grade. That measure indicates a comparatively strong payout profile, though future dividends remain subject to board approval and the company’s operating and financial performance.
