Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE: DAL) increased its quarterly dividend by 14.36%, lifting the payment to $0.215 per share from $0.188. The shares traded ex-dividend on July 9, 2026.

The increase gives Delta an annual dividend of $0.78 per share and a forward annual yield of 0.94% based on a share price of $82.41. Delta’s board disclosed the higher distribution through the company’s investor-relations site, marking another step in the airline’s renewed capital-return program. Delta’s dividend announcement

Dividend recovery continues

The latest action extends Delta’s dividend-growth streak to two consecutive years. That record remains relatively short, however, and follows a previous dividend cut in 2024. The history is relevant because airline dividends can be sensitive to economic cycles, fuel costs, travel demand and balance-sheet requirements.

Delta announced the increase against a backdrop of stronger demand and continued debt reduction. In its June-quarter report, the airline said broad demand strength and operating execution helped earnings exceed its guidance. Management also reported progress reducing adjusted net debt and said debt reduction remained a priority alongside reinvestment and shareholder returns. Delta’s June-quarter results

The company’s business spans domestic and international passenger travel, cargo and related airline services. That scale provides multiple revenue streams, but earnings remain exposed to industry-specific variables such as jet-fuel prices, labor and aircraft costs, capacity decisions and shifts in discretionary travel.

What it means for income investors

The 14.36% increase raises the cash income attached to each share, while the 0.94% forward yield remains modest compared with securities primarily held for income. The event is therefore more notable as a continuation of Delta’s dividend recovery than as a high-yield proposition.

Delta carries a dividend safety score of 56 out of 100, corresponding to a C grade. That assessment indicates a middle-range safety profile rather than a strong margin of protection. For income-focused readers, the combination of a two-year growth streak and the prior 2024 cut underscores the importance of monitoring cash generation, debt reduction and the airline industry’s cyclical operating conditions.
