How NEOS ETFs pay

NEOS funds hold an index or asset, such as the S&P 500, the Nasdaq-100, the Russell 2000 or bitcoin, and sell call options on it, paying the income monthly.

A NEOS ETF's distribution changes from one payment to the next, because it depends on the option premium the fund collected. The annualized rate in the table multiplies the latest payment by the number of payments in a year (12 for monthly funds) and divides by today's price, so it moves every time a new distribution is declared.

Distributions can include return of capital, which reduces your cost basis rather than counting as income. Check the fund's Section 19a notice for the estimated split, and look at the total return column: it shows the price change plus distributions, what a holder actually earned.
