Hubbell Incorporated raised its quarterly dividend 7.0% to $1.52 a share from $1.42. The stock will trade ex-dividend on November 30, 2026, with payment scheduled for December 15, 2026.

Why the dividend changed

Hubbell’s declaration did not give a specific reason for the increase beyond the board’s approval. The operating backdrop nevertheless shows stronger sales, earnings and cash generation around the decision, although the company did not explicitly connect those results to the higher distribution.

Third-quarter net sales rose 25%, including 11% organic growth and a 13% contribution from acquisitions. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 14%, while free cash flow increased to $280 million from $254 million. Hubbell also raised its full-year adjusted earnings outlook and forecast free-cash-flow conversion of approximately 90% of adjusted net income, according to its third-quarter results.

Electrical Solutions led the quarter, with organic sales growth driven by data-center demand, content gains and capacity expansion. Utility Solutions benefited from demand in distribution, transmission and substations. Chief Executive Gerben Bakker said orders and end-market demand remained strong and the backlog continued to build.

Acquisitions also shaped the capital-allocation picture. Hubbell completed its purchase of NSI Industries in June, adding electrical fittings, connectors and wire-management products. Management said in the third-quarter release that NSI’s performance and integration were running ahead of its initial expectations. The transaction increased debt and acquisition-related costs, but the quarter’s cash generation supported the dividend increase alongside integration and capacity spending.

Dividend track record

The increase extends Hubbell’s dividend-growth streak to 18 consecutive years. Its five-year dividend growth rate is 7.7% annual growth, consistent with a pattern of measured annual increases rather than abrupt changes.

The annual payment total rose from $3.71 in 2020 to $3.99 in 2021, $4.27 in 2022, $4.58 in 2023, $4.98 in 2024 and $5.38 in 2025. The annual increases were 7.6% in 2021, 7.0% in 2022, 7.3% in 2023, 8.7% in 2024 and 8.0% in 2025. Each year included four payments.

Recent quarterly payments show the same step-up pattern. Hubbell paid $1.32 on the four ex-dividend dates from November 29, 2024, through August 29, 2025, followed by four payments of $1.42 from November 28, 2025, through August 31, 2026. The new $1.52 rate represents the next scheduled increase in that sequence.

Is the dividend covered?

The dividend consumes 33% of earnings. That leaves most earnings outside the distribution for acquisitions, capacity investments, debt service, repurchases and other corporate needs.

SmarterDividends rates the dividend A, with a safety score of 94. That grade means very safe (score 80-100), reflecting the moderate earnings payout and established record of annual increases. The grade describes current coverage and resilience; each future dividend still requires board approval.

The latest results add operating support to that assessment. Hubbell generated $280 million of free cash flow in the third quarter even as it integrated NSI and invested in expansion. Its second-quarter filing also showed higher first-half operating cash flow and continued investment in capacity, automation and productivity.

Yield and valuation

Hubbell’s forward yield is 1.24%, below the Industrials sector median forward yield of 1.63%. The difference indicates that the shares provide less current dividend income than the sector midpoint, despite the company’s long growth record.

At a share price of $459.40 and a market value of $24.3 billion, the stock has recorded a 3.9% gain over one year. SmarterDividends’ fair-value estimate is $296.26, producing an overvalued verdict and 34% downside to fair value. The valuation assessment is separate from dividend safety: a well-covered payout can coexist with a share price above an estimated fair value.

What to watch

The immediate dates are November 30, 2026, when the shares trade ex-dividend, and December 15, 2026, when the payment is scheduled. The declared quarterly amount is $1.52.

Operationally, the next checkpoints are Hubbell’s full-year results, its performance against raised earnings and sales guidance, and cash conversion after the NSI acquisition. Investors can also monitor NSI integration, capacity expansion and demand from data centers and electric-grid markets. Tariff exposure, raw-material costs and softness in heavy industrial and residential markets remain specific variables identified by management.
