Southern Missouri Bancorp, Inc. increased its quarterly dividend to $0.27 per share from $0.25, an 8% rise. The ex-dividend date was Aug. 14, 2026.

The increase extends the financial-services company’s dividend-growth streak to 14 consecutive years. At a share price of $74.01, the stock carries a forward annual yield of 1.37%, based on annual dividends of $1.02 per share. Southern Missouri has a dividend safety score of 99 out of 100 and an A safety grade.

The Poplar Bluff, Missouri-based company is the parent of Southern Bank. As of March 31, 2026, the bank operated its headquarters, 63 full-service branches, two limited-service branches and three loan-production offices, according to its quarterly filing.

Earnings provide context

The dividend increase accompanied Southern Missouri’s preliminary fiscal fourth-quarter results. The company attributed improved year-over-year earnings primarily to higher net interest income, a lower income-tax provision, reduced noninterest expense and higher noninterest income. Those benefits were partly offset by a larger provision for credit losses, according to the company’s earnings release.

Credit quality remains an important counterweight. Southern Missouri disclosed that fourth-quarter net charge-offs were driven mainly by an agricultural production loan and a previously identified nonperforming commercial loan that moved into other real estate owned after foreclosure.

The company has previously described dividends as one component of a broader capital-allocation strategy. Its 2025 annual report said management was balancing shareholder distributions with organic expansion, potential acquisitions and share repurchases. The report also outlined plans to expand the bank’s presence in the St. Louis market during fiscal 2026. Southern Missouri’s annual report provides additional background.

What it means for income investors

The higher payment raises quarterly cash income per share and continues Southern Missouri’s 14-year growth record. The 1.37% forward yield remains modest, while the 99 safety score and A grade indicate a strong dividend-safety profile under the supplied methodology. Future dividend capacity will still depend on earnings, credit costs and the bank’s competing capital needs.
