Best Dividend Screener (2026): 7 Free and Paid Options Compared
By SmarterDividends Team · November 6, 2026 · Updated November 6, 2026
The best dividend screener, as of November 2026, is the one that filters on the numbers that predict dividend cuts, not just yield. For free, the SmarterDividends dividend screener filters by yield, payout ratio, growth streak, sector and frequency with no account, and Finviz's free screener covers yield, dividend growth and payout ratio. For paid depth, Stock Rover (from $348 a year) and Koyfin (from $39 a month) offer more dividend metrics, while Seeking Alpha Premium ($299 a year) is the one that screens by sector-relative Dividend Grades.
Most screeners can sort by yield. Fewer can tell you which high yields are about to be cut. That difference drives the rankings below.

SmarterDividends: the free dividend-only screener
We built two screeners, and both are free.
The dividend screener needs no account. As of November 6, 2026, it has these filters:
| Filter | Settings |
|---|---|
| Minimum yield | Any, 2%+, 3%+, 4%+, 5%+, 7%+ |
| Max payout ratio | Any, 50%, 60%, 75%, 90% or less |
| Min growth streak | Any, 5+, 10+, 20+, 25+ years (Aristocrat level) |
| Sector | All sectors or one |
| Frequency | Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual |
| Sort by | Highest yield, longest streak, fastest growth, largest cap |
Results show yield, payout ratio, streak, market cap and a quick safety letter for the top 60 matches. Be clear about one thing: the letter in the screener's Safety column is a shortcut computed from payout ratio and growth streak, and the page says so. The full A–F Dividend Safety Grade, from our 0–100 score that also weighs past cuts, free cash flow, debt and yield against the stock's own history, is on each stock page.
The value screener needs a free account. It filters by valuation verdict (undervalued, fair, overvalued), minimum upside to our fair-value estimate (10% to 50%+), minimum dividend safety score (50, 65 or 80+), minimum yield, 1-year return, model confidence and sector, and you can save screens to rerun. This is the one to use when you want a safety-score filter.
What it does well: dividend-specific filters with no paywall, a growth-streak filter most free screeners lack, and safety data next to every result. Its limits: U.S.-listed securities only, a fixed set of filter values rather than any number you type, no maximum-yield filter, and far fewer fields than Stock Rover or Koyfin.
Pick it if you want a free screen for dividend safety and streaks, then a quick look at each stock's grade.
Finviz: the fastest free general screener
Finviz is the screener many investors already use. As of November 6, 2026, its free screener shows Dividend Yield, Dividend Growth and Payout Ratio filters, and none of them is marked Elite-only. Its help pages define Dividend Yield as a fiscal-year estimate that falls back to trailing twelve months. The free plan also has 50 saved presets and a dividend calendar by ex-date.
Elite costs $39.50 a month or $299.50 a year as of November 6, 2026, with refunds on written request during the first 30 days. Elite adds alerts (stock, price, screener, portfolio and calendar), which the free plan lacks.
The limitation for dividend investors: only those three dividend fields, no growth-streak filter and no dividend safety score. Free quotes are delayed.
Pick it if you already screen stocks broadly and want a few dividend filters on top.
Koyfin: the most dividend fields for the money
Koyfin's screener lists Dividend Yield (Indicated), Dividend Yield NTM, Payout Ratio (LTM), Payout Ratio (FCF), Dividend Per Share CAGR (5Y FY), Dividend Streak and Dividend Increases. Having both an earnings and a free-cash-flow payout filter is useful, since cash flow is often the better test.
As of November 6, 2026, the free plan allows 2 screens and 2 years of financials. Plus is $39 a month and Premium $79 a month, with up to 30% off on annual plans, and Koyfin offers refunds within 30 days. New accounts get 7 days of full access, according to its blog.
The limitation: no dividend safety score and no dividend calendar. Its Dividend Snapshot was a Premium-only feature per a 2021 release note.
Pick it if you want to build your own dividend screens from raw metrics.
Stock Rover: the deepest paid dividend screening
Stock Rover's dividend pages describe screening on yield, payout ratio against earnings and free cash flow, growth streaks and dividend CAGRs, with ready-made dividend growth and income screeners.
As of November 6, 2026, Premium is $34 a month or $348 a year, Premium Plus $70 a month or $588 a year, and Ultimate $99 a month or $948 a year. There is a 14-day free trial on any plan, and Stock Rover says it does not issue refunds. Ultimate adds the 0–100 Dividend Safety Score and up to 30 years of dividend history per ticker.
The limitation: the safety score and the longest history sit on the $948 tier, and with no refunds you should use the trial fully.
Pick it if screening is the center of your process and you'll use the platform weekly.
Seeking Alpha: screening by Dividend Grades
Seeking Alpha Premium's screener has about 100 criteria, including Dividend Yield, and Dividend Grades as a filter category. The grades (Safety, Growth, Yield, Consistency) are sector-relative and updated daily. We couldn't confirm payout or growth-streak filters on its help pages.
As of November 6, 2026, Premium costs $299 a year, and Premium fees are non-refundable. Free Basic accounts can view some public screens, such as High Dividend Yield Stocks, but not the grades.
Pick it if you want to screen by grades and then read contributor articles on what comes up. Our Seeking Alpha alternatives guide covers cheaper routes.
Morningstar Investor: screening with fair values
Morningstar's screener covers stocks, ETFs, funds and indexes. Its own guides describe Dividend Yield (trailing and forward) and a 10-year dividend-per-share growth filter. We found no payout-ratio or streak filter confirmed on its pages.
As of November 6, 2026, Morningstar Investor costs $249 a year or $34.95 a month, with a 7-day free trial. It has no dedicated dividend safety score; its fair values and moat ratings are the reason to pay.
Pick it if you screen funds as well as stocks and want analyst fair values.
Simply Safe Dividends: screeners next to safety scores
Simply Safe Dividends lists stock and closed-end fund screeners alongside its Dividend Safety Scores and portfolio tracker. Its pricing page doesn't spell out the screener's filters, so use the trial to check them.
As of November 6, 2026, it costs $468 a year (annual only), with a 14-day free trial and no card, and a 60-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. More in our Simply Safe Dividends alternatives.
How to screen for safe dividend stocks
A good screen removes the obvious cut risks first, then ranks what is left. These settings work in our screener:
- Minimum yield: 3%+. There is no maximum filter, so treat any result above about 6% as a reason to open the stock page first. Very high yields often mean the market expects a cut.
- Max payout ratio: 75% or less. Stocks without a payout figure stay in the results, so check those by hand. REITs and pipelines are judged on funds from operations or cash flow, not earnings, as we explain in what is a good payout ratio.
- Min growth streak: 5+ years. A company that has raised for five straight years has a habit worth keeping. Use 25+ for Aristocrat-level records.
- Sort by longest streak to see the most reliable payers first, or by highest yield to see the most income.
- Check the safety grade on each stock page, and aim for A or B.
To filter on the safety score directly, use the value screener. On our 0–100 scale an A starts at 80 and a B at 66, so setting Min Dividend Safety to 80+ keeps A grades only, and 65+ keeps roughly A and B. Add Min Yield 3%+, Min Upside 10%+ and confidence "medium or high" for stocks that look both safe and cheap.
If you'd rather not build a screen at all, these lists are already filtered:
- Safest dividend stocks: the highest safety grades.
- Safe high-yield dividend stocks: higher yields that still grade well.
- Undervalued dividend stocks: below our fair-value estimate with acceptable safety.
- Dividend Aristocrats: S&P 500 members with 25+ years of raises.
Why lead with safety? We log every cut against the grade the company held beforehand, and publish the misses in our safety track record. As of November 6, 2026, only 8% of graded dividend stocks are rated D or F, yet 52% of the cuts recorded since April 2026 came from companies graded D or F beforehand. Screening those out removes a small slice of the market and about half the recorded cuts. It won't catch every cut, and the warning signs in dividend cut warning signs are still worth reading for anything you buy.
The same screen elsewhere
In Finviz, set Dividend Yield, Payout Ratio and Dividend Growth to the closest options; there's no streak filter. In Koyfin, use Dividend Yield (Indicated) of 3% or more, Payout Ratio (FCF) under 75% and Dividend Streak of 5 or more. In Stock Rover, start from its ready-made dividend growth screener and add a payout filter.
Screening your own watchlist in a spreadsheet
If you already have a shortlist, our free API has a Google Sheets format. One IMPORTDATA formula per ticker returns yield, payout ratio, growth streak and safety grade, and you can filter the sheet like any table. The setup is in our dividend tracker spreadsheet guide.
How we compared
We compared each screener on its dividend-specific filters (yield, payout ratio on earnings and cash flow, growth streak, dividend growth rate), whether it can filter or show a dividend safety score, what is free, and what the paid tier costs. Filter names and prices come from each vendor's own pricing, plan and help pages, checked on November 6, 2026. Where we couldn't confirm a filter, we say so. We haven't run hands-on tests of competitor products. The SmarterDividends filter lists come from our own screener as it runs today.
SmarterDividends is our own product, and it is independent, with no bank or broker behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best free dividend screener?
As of November 6, 2026, the SmarterDividends screener is free with no account and filters U.S. dividend payers by minimum yield, maximum payout ratio, minimum growth streak, sector and payment frequency. Finviz's free screener is the best general stock screener with dividend filters (Dividend Yield, Dividend Growth and Payout Ratio) but has no growth-streak filter or safety score.
Which dividend screener filters by dividend safety?
The SmarterDividends value screener (free with an account) filters by a minimum dividend safety score on a 0–100 scale. Seeking Alpha Premium ($299 a year as of November 6, 2026) lets you filter by its Dividend Grades. Stock Rover's 0–100 Dividend Safety Score is an Ultimate plan metric ($948 a year).
Can I screen for dividend growth streaks for free?
Yes. The free SmarterDividends screener has a minimum growth streak filter with 5, 10, 20 and 25+ year settings. Koyfin's screener lists a Dividend Streak filter and its free plan allows 2 saved screens. Finviz's free screener has a Dividend Growth filter but no streak filter.
What filters should I use to find safe dividend stocks?
A sensible starting screen is a yield of 3% or more, a payout ratio of 75% or less, and a dividend growth streak of at least 5 years, then a check of each result's safety grade. Yields above about 6% deserve a closer look before you trust them, and REITs and pipelines should be judged on funds from operations or distributable cash flow rather than earnings payout.
How much does the Seeking Alpha screener cost?
As of November 6, 2026, the full Seeking Alpha screener with about 100 criteria, including Dividend Grades, is part of Seeking Alpha Premium at $299 a year. Free Basic accounts can view some public screens such as High Dividend Yield Stocks. Premium fees are non-refundable according to its help center.
Is the SmarterDividends screener really free?
Yes. The dividend screener at smarterdividends.com/screener needs no account and has no paywall. The value screener, which adds filters for upside to fair value and dividend safety score, needs a free account. SmarterDividends Pro ($99 a year) is for portfolio features such as unlimited holdings and cut alerts, not the screeners.
